Stepdance is a key part of Scotland’s Intangible Cultural Heritage and is critically endangered due to under-investment and lack of consistent informed support since its revival in Scotland in the 1990s.

At Deiseil Airson Dannsa we aim to address key issues contributing to decline and the risk that stepdance will soon be lost to Scotland again.

I hope there will always be some of those old steps that are kept.

Deiseil: Dancing in Time has been co-created by Alison CarlyleAmy Geddes (Fiddle player) and Gerry Mulgrew (Director). It will premiere at the Edinburgh Fringe 2025 with plans to tour across Scotland in 2026.
